Normally, you'd find me in space on some crazy mission with aliens but when I heard about this new anthology I knew exactly what story to write. My wounded warrior, my characters with the scars both outside and inside. Scars follows a brave soldier who lost his leg. He's returned home depressed and suicidal. But his former team member arrives just as hurt. These two men that protected our country now find new hope within each other. 

My inspiration for this story actually came from Michael Stokes Photography. He's an amazing photographer who shows real soldier's who were wounded overseas. They're sexy, strong, amazing individuals!

“Go away, Gabe.”

“Nope.” He sat back on my couch and crossed his arms over his chest. It made his muscles bunch and my balls tighten. “You’re stuck with me.”

“Stop being such a prick. I don’t want you here.”

“Of course you do.” He stood. “Even if it’s just to stare at my ass.” He then walked into my kitchen.

Okay, the ass joke was new. I rolled into the kitchen, which was really just a sink, table for two and one rickety chair. There were four cabinets none of which I could reach and boxes of food on the white counter.

“Hey where’s you’re prosthetic?”

I hated that fucking thing.

“I miss looking into your eyes.” He winked at me as he grabbed a box of cereal off the counter.

“Okay, what the fucks with the flirting Gabe?” Had he damaged his brain under that red hair of his?

Gabe just laughed.

It was nice hearing it again. He never answered me. I grunted. “I’m going to go shave.”

“Good. I don’t want to kiss the grizzly man.”

The fuck? I stopped short so quick my wheelchair flew back. I landed with a thud, thankfully my head didn’t hit. My blanket flew off my legs and over my head. Well, didn’t I do dignity well?

Gabe laughed. He actually laughed.

I pulled the stupid blanket off my head and found myself looking into his smiling face. I snorted then chuckled until I was laughing too. What was the chance after this long with a wheelchair that I’d fall backwards? That hadn’t even happened when I started with this thing but two seconds with him and I was an uncoordinated, horny idiot. “You’re an ass.” I locked the wheels in placed then used their steady presence to pull myself back upright. One thing about losing a leg, the upper body got muscles fast.

“I’m not the one sporting a chubby under that blanket.”

Fuck. I shoved the blanket back over my hips. It didn’t even occur to me to dress. I was wearing a raggedy white t-shirt and boxer shorts with a hole in the rim. And yes, my cock was half erect thanks to Gabe’s flirting. What the hell was up with him? “What are you doing? I mean it, why are you here and what are you doing with all this...flirting?”
